In late January 2021, Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) sent to the Chamber of Deputies, as a preferred initiative, the "Initiative of Draft Decree" by which various provisions of the Electricity Industry Law (LIE) are amended and added. The initiative was approved by the Chambers of Deputies and Senators, and published on March 9, 2021.
